Editorial policy
Our editorial work aims to explain sport accurately and plainly, with attention to context. We make the basis and limits of an explanation clear, and welcome corrections when something needs another look.
Accuracy and context
We check claims against relevant material available to us and take care with terminology, dates, and the context of a rule or tradition. Rules and conventions can differ across sports and competitions; articles should say which context they mean rather than imply one account fits all. We do not present general editorial explanations as professional advice.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for their relevance to readers and the publication's subject. A commercial relationship does not buy a favourable conclusion or control over independent editorial coverage. Where a relationship could matter to a reader's understanding, we make it clear.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error, send the article title and a clear description of the issue through the Contact page. We review correction requests, check the point, and amend material when warranted. Significant corrections should be identified in the article so readers can tell what changed.
Paid material and illustrations
Paid or partner-supported material is identified clearly as such and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that applies, the illustration is labelled so readers can distinguish it from documentary imagery.
